Account Settings

What this is

The Settings page is where you manage your account details, HMRC connection, and notification preferences. The options available depend on whether you are an accountant or an individual.

What you can do here

If you’re an accountant

  • Enter your Agent Reference Number (ARN) - your practice identifier for HMRC agent services. This is required before you can authorise clients.
  • Manage your HMRC connection - view connection status, reconnect if expired, or disconnect
  • Update notification preferences - choose how you want to be notified about deadlines and updates
  • View account information - see your email address and account type

If you’re filing for yourself

  • Enter your NINO (National Insurance Number) - required for HMRC identification. Format: AA123456A
  • Manage your HMRC connection - view connection status, reconnect if expired, or disconnect
  • Update notification preferences - choose how you want to be notified about deadlines and updates
  • View account information - see your email address and account type
  • Export your data - download a copy of your data for your records

Things to know

  • Your NINO or ARN is validated on entry. NINO must be in the format AA123456A (two letters, six digits, one letter). ARN must be in the format [Letter]ARN[7 digits].
  • Disconnecting from HMRC will prevent Aligned from retrieving obligations or submitting data until you reconnect.
  • Notification preferences let you control email notifications for upcoming deadlines and submission confirmations.
  • Account deletion is available if you wish to remove your account and all associated data.
